JAKARTA The Indonesian Table Tennis Federation or Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) sent as many as three clubs to appear at the Southeast Asian Club Table Tennis Championship in Thailand this week.
The Championship, titled “Stiga ASEAN Table Tennis Club Championship 2025”, will take place at Thonburi University, Thailand, on July 18-20, 2025.
Secretary General of IPL, Yon Mardiyono, said that the athlete’s delivery was a continuation of Season 1 of the Indonesia Pingpong League which took place in Bandung on May 2-4, 2025.
“So, we sent the three best teams from IPL Season 1 to participate in the inter-club championship in ASEAN,” Yon said at a press conference in Jakarta on Thursday, July 17, 2025.
This is the first time Indonesia Pingpong League (IPL) has officially sent representatives to an international tournament after they were officially declared the parent of the national table tennis organization.
The three clubs that will represent Indonesia in the championship are Onic, PTM Sukun, and Arowana Jaya TTC. All three will compete in the mixed open team category with clubs from seven other countries.
“The tournament was attended by 24 teams from various Southeast Asian countries. It also presented an invitation team from India and China Taipei.”
“In addition to the three main representatives, Indonesia also gets a wildcard slot filled with Balinese clubs,” said Yon.
The team’s overseas delivery is part of IPL’s efforts to encourage the progress of Indonesian table tennis towards the international stage, one of which is preparation for the 2025 SEA Games.
Yon hopes that the athletes sent can compete at the Southeast Asian level so that they can be used as benchmarks and evaluation materials for both players and the coaching team.
“Our target will be there later, because we haven’t measured internationally for a long time, especially in ASEAN, so we try to give our best. As for my personal target, I want to enter the top four,” he said.
The 2025 ASEAN Tennis Club Championship Championship Tenable Tournament will be attended by leading clubs from Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, Thailand, the Philippines, Taiwan, India, and Indonesia.
In addition to the open category, this tournament will compete in the U-13 group. In that category, Indonesia sent Onic and Gree One TTC.
